Valentine's Day Countdown - 3 Weeks to go

Alright, this is for the Couples, Partners, Lovers, and Friends who choose to make an effort to express their love especially on the day synonymous with Love.

It's exactly three weeks to go until Valentine's day and as your personal shopper (albeit unpaid, unsolicited, and not celebrating), I have taken upon my self to guide you through the commercial minefield, the sellers of goods and services have made of Valentine's day.

In the true fashion of expressing love, you may need to make a conscious effort to decide what mode, method, or theme your self-expression of love is going to take i.e. is it going to be platonic but sweet, a first declaration of love, a steamy affair (strictly restricted to those who've placed a ring on the fourth finger of the left hand), young love etc. For the mode, method, or theme you have chosen, there's the details to be taken care of. I shall provide a list and help you tick off each item on the list with a few sources to help you on your way.

Okay, there's the present to consider appropriate for the woman/man you are making your valentine. Each theme has an appropriate gift i.e. Chocolates would be appropriate for platonic but sweet, romantic dinner at a dance bar would be appropriate for a first declaration of love, home-cooked dinner with love songs playing in the background and a gift of exquisite lingerie would be appropriate for a steamy affair (note my previous caveat), and personalised picture frames would be appropriate for young love. Does this make sense? I hope it does considering the modern world of no holds barred, we live in. I am not bothered if some people think I'm an old-fashioned prude for the caveat, old-fashioned still works well.

So where do you find the perfect personalised present for your woman/man? In UK, I found http://www.thegiftexperience.co.uk to be full of sweet ideas (dinner on the River Thames, Valentine break for two, Picture Candles) and would be all over the site like a rash if I had a valid reason. In USA, I found http://www.personalizationmall.com to be quite good (love the Red satin kimono for women and the monogrammed cuff-links & Silver Money Clip for men).

For Perfumes for women, Valentine favourites are said to be 'Amour' by Kenzo, 'In love again Fleur de la Passion' by YSL, and 'Lovely Prism' by Givenchy.

If you want to take it to a whole new level, you can order a Ferrari (or any other brand) test drive for you man at http://www.experiencemad.co.uk. For your woman, you can send her for a wonderful day at the Spa including facials, pedicure, and manicure by checking http://www.spabreak.co.uk for the best deals on Spa breaks.

For beautiful underwear for women (you know how women love these things), check out http://victoriassecrets.com, http://www.bravissimo.com (for D-K cups), and http://www.figleaves.com.

I have done this guide on specific request from a reader so I hope she appreciates this.

The countdown continues with music and dining guides coming to you as we approach Valentine's Day.

Let your love show.

Ciao

Valentine's Day Countdown - ALICIA KEYS LIKE YOU'LL NEVER SEE ME AGAIN NEW TILLY KEY 08

This song is dedicated to the Lovers who need to be reminded that if you've found love, you need to remember to love like you'll never see your loved one again.

Valetine's Day is around the corner, see Joe ft Papoose - Where You At

its coming close to Valentine Day and I ned to remind all Lovers out there that they need to express the love not just say it. I'm sure Joe will agree with me and Papoose says so in his rap lyric.

Enjoy this as I begin my countdown to Valentine's Day.

Pick of the Week - Vids & Movies

With the lingering taste of 'The Great Debaters' still on my mind, it was hard to move on to pick another movie to share.

However, before I proceed to my current favourite movie, I need to reiterate that 'The Great Debaters' is a wonderful movie to watch. Albeit poignant in its message about the Freedom movement to end segregation in United States back in the day, it was still educational for me to know what went on in those days. Since I wasn't taught anything but Nigeria's fight for Independence growing up, its good to have access to visual stories of the Black Americans fight for equality and Justice. Furthermore, I dabbed in and out of debating whilst in secondary school so it was a joy to see fellow debaters at war with words, a most powerful form of expression. I wish schools still encourage the use of debates as a stimulating tools for becoming eloquent.

Anyway, moving on from 'The Great Debaters', 'P.S I Love you' caught me (how drastic is that turn). I am a sucker for romance, soppy love, serenading the woman, and the loss of great love. The movie touched my core (guys, no funny ideas of tomfoolery) and is my pick of the moment.

The buzz for me on forthcoming movies is 'How she move', another dance movie. After the disappointment of the 2007 dance movie 'Feel the noise' featuring Omarion, I would love to have another invigorating dance movie stir my loins like 'Stomp the Yard' did. Fingers crossed.

'Atonement' is still on my list to watch since I love period movies (I'm quite shocked I haven't seen it) and I've seen most of Keira Knightley's films 9with the number of nominations for Movie awards, I will be sure not to miss it). So also Charlie Wilson's War which I hear has a stellar performance by Julia Roberts and Tom Hanks, catch it if you can cos it's good.

On TV (in UK and USA), I'm still in love with 'Gossip Girl, Snoop Dogg's Fatherhood, Run's House, and Ghost Whisperer (as creepy and scary as it is). American Idol will be one not to miss when it airs here in UK on Friday at 9.00 on ITV2.

I shall leave you all now to catch up with my friends on the movie and TV screens. Keep loving yourself enough to make an effort to look good.

Ciao.

Confessions of my Addictions

Okay, I do not care how pathetic I'm gonna sound right now after you read the next sentence or two. But, I was watching a reality show on the lives of single women in New York and this lady was out on a date with a guy and telling him how much more economical it is to confess to a Priest any sins you commit because it is free rather than visit a Psychologist ('Shrink') for psychotherapy and pay by the hour. What were they thinking? What sort of date were they on?

Anyway, this triggered off my blog title for the week because I'm going to confess to you all, free of charge, some addictions I currently harbor in my head or otherwise (If you like, you can tell what the remedy to my addictions are after you've read them all). I am going to list my addictions in the order of the human anatomy i.e. in the direction of head to toe. Here we go:
On my Ipod and always in my ears, I am currently addicted to Joe's last album 'Ain't nothing like me' and Alicia Key's latest album 'As I am' .
There's something about love songs which keep you in a good mood even though I can't necessarily say I know what they're talking about cos it just doesn't go down that way for me (but I'll leave that for another day). These album covers are courtesy of http://www.amazon.com/

My next addiction is the perfume 'Christina Aguilera', which is a heady perfume reminding me of berries when I spray it on, http://www.christina-aguilera-perfumes.com/home.php/. I love this Perfume cos it's amazing in my opinion (I don't think any 'Shrink' can cure me of this).

My next addiction is this dress from Oasis (http://www.oasis-stores.com/) which I can't seem to get out of my sights and this chiffon blouse from Lipsy (http://www.lipsy.co.uk/) which will be the highlight of the summer season for me (Tell me, what do I do?)

My other addiction which might actually necessitate me seeing a 'Shrink' is my love for Anya Hindmarch handbags (http://www.anyahindmarch.com/). I admire her collection and love her designs in addition to loving the woman for being environmentally aware and aiding the cause. I can't wait to lay my hands on one of these.

My last addiction to confess is my desire to always want to wear this boots from Aldo (http://www.aldoshoes.com/). They go well with anything you want to wear it with, no holds barred.
Gosh, I feel spent now after confessing my fashionable addictive sins, and I probably won't have anything to confess for years to come. However, I do need to point out that I do not have these addictions working at the same time cos the Fashion Police would probably have me arrested if I did, so 'don't try this at home without adult supervision' (only joking).
I feel like I have opened my soul to the world (even though it's only a wardrobe) and you guys have seen it all, but it ain't going down like that, I've still got some tricks up my sleeve.
I leave you to ponder about that and hey, let me know what you think I need to do to cure my various addictions.
Fashionable thots, xoxo

2008 heralds ............

It's the first few days of the New Year of 2008 and temperatures have dived dramatically such that the fashion accessories 'must haves' include thick wool woven tights which can be found in Marks & Spencer (http://www.marksandspencer.com/)stores or stall traders who specialise in selling tights, hosiery etc. They come in a variety of colours to match your outfit or your boots (knee-length, mid-length, or ankle) so don't be scared to go coloured cos it's the attitude that counts. Trust me to think fashion first thing in the Year (don't wanna disappoint you guys).

As is the trend, New Year Resolutions are most likely out of the door by now for those who make the ones they can't stick to or make unrealistic ones. It is always best to have aspirations to meet than to make resolutions you can't keep. My aspirations for the year include becoming more savvy in managing my finances, taking a few exams that would increase my employable worth hence increasing my earning potential which shouldn't be matched with an increase in my expenditure (and I'm rambling on) but you catch my drift generally. Apparently, there are lots of free courses around (just type what you want in Google and don't forget to add the word 'free' at the beginning) organised by the experts to help you become better in making investments, buying properties, and an assortment of skills that can only make your adult life more decisive and strategic. After all, who doesn't want an improved standard of living?

So, as this year begins, let it begin with an informed plan for what you want to achieve by the end of the year. Don't start the year and end it at the same level and in the same way you begun. Let there be some level of progression and not regression, let there be some upward movement and not a downward spiral, let there be some growth and not retardation. Above all, you can't do it by yourself so remember to holla at the one person who makes all things possible, GOD.

Make a decisive move now and I look forward to hearing amazing stories from anyone who cares to share. If you don't I'm sure we'll see it written all over you anyway.

I'm raising up a glass of expensive bubbly (all in my mind) and toasting you all to having an excellent year of opportunity, wise decisions, and maturity.

Fabulous thoughts,

Kaffy
